I was looking for a cheap way to crush cans and this worked fairly well.Overall, it will do the job and I too became a victim of a poorly attached handle! Instead of writing a bad review about this seeming small design defect, I slipped the rod into the handle and put that side on the flat part of an anvil. A few whacks with a hammer – on the opposite side of the pin – and I was back in business. Thanks Dad, I learned quite a bit from you. The action is pretty straight forward, insert can, yank handle down and repeat.I mounted the crusher on a two by four about three feet long, close to one end. That way I can sit in a chair and with one foot, brace it against the fence or building and crush away. I like this because I can adjust where I sit and where I can crush cans with, its portable.About the actual can crushing? I was bored and began to play around and found out two things. For some strange reason the cans crush easier upside down. Another thing that I learned was as I loaded the can into the crusher, if I used my thumb to push the side of the can in? (Just a little dent will do..) the can is IMMENSELY easier to crush.Other than the handle/pin problem – and anyone with half a brain can fix that – it’s a worth the money.

Bought this to replace a can crusher I’ve had for years. The one I had wasn’t great – had to replace almost all the rivets, sand and paint because of rust, and reattached the handle with epoxy more than once. I noticed this one had thicker metal and seemed more stable, though that could be because I got the 12 oz can version. Works fine so far but time is the real judge. For now 4 stars, I’ll upgrade it if it lasts.

I’m sorry to tell the can community that I’ve killed many of their brethren with this device. I think the other cans now recognize me and are trying to flee when I walk into the store, but they, too, will get what’s coming to them.Muahahaha.Seriously, though, good crusher. Does what I bought it for.

This is somewhat less sturdy than the 77702 model which has a longer, bent-steel-rod handle, but this one is more compact, slightly more ergonomic, and is more kitchen-friendly in appearance (I put the 77702 in a garage, and this one in a kitchen). Both work fine but the 77702 is less dependent on small rivets, and relies more on brute, bent steel, so it may be more durable. (However, the two devices are 98% equivalent in function; the 77702 smashes the can maybe 1/4 inch flatter than the Ram-Pro does.) A tip: when new, the nice-looking enamel on this is so slick the can may be spat out during crushing. Putting a square of duct tape on the top and bottom crusher surfaces gives the crusher something pressure sensitive with which to “bite” the can slightly, and the duct tape cures the “spitting can” issue.
