Our deep-fryer died, so we purchased the little ‘kettle’ to use while we researched another “big” one.Well – this little sweetheart does it all .. Fries, steams, simmers ….We make sugar water for hummingbirds and our honey-bees. Neither nectar should come to a boil – We just add water, sugar, stir and set the Kettle on 200 & no more watching the pot …We also raise chickens for their delicious eggs. But as most of you know, peeling a farm-fresh egg is nearly impossible if boiled, but steam them? And the shell falls off easily … I can make egg salad, potato salad, deviled eggs now .. with no hassle at all …Seriously folks .. this little gem is a great tool in your cooking arsenal …It may be small .. but it’s dynamite !

I am using this to melt wax to make wax melts and it works great. It holds 8 pounds of wax at a time. I set the temperature 10 degrees above the target temperature as it loses heat in the scooping out process into the pour pot and while weighing. I then briefly put it into a double boiler with thermostat and within about one minute it is ideal temperature again for adding color. I remove from the heat and stir in the color then wait for the temperature to drop to the proper temperature to add the fragrance oil. Using the Presto pot has increased speed of the wax melt making process compared to using only the pour pot with double boiler method. I use a stainless steel ladle to access the wax although I know that some people modify the Presto pot with a pour nozzle near the bottom. Rating 5 stars = I Love It.

I have had about 4 to 5 of these deep frying kettles. You can cook steam or deep fry in this kettle. For myuse I buy the big kettle. All I use it for is making French Fries. I bought this small one for a gift.I will truthfully advise you of this fact; these kettles will NOT last more than 1 to 2 years. However, I am speaking of theones that I have bought.I’m NOT complaining at all. If they last a year, I am very pleased. This deep fryer is worth every penny, evenif it don’t last very long. This product makes the best French Fries that can be made. Of course, that’s mypersonal opinion. This is why that I continue to purchase this Kettle, I get my money’s worth out of it.If you use it occasionally, it may last for many years, I don’t know. Again, this kettle is made very welland for all the use that I get from it, it is worth the money. When the kettle stars going out, it gets a shortin the magnetic plug at the bottom. Tried everything to fix it. Once it starts doing that, throw it away.Again, this is the best deep fryer that I have ever used…

I purchased this presto machine because started making my own candles. I used it to melt my wax, my husband drilled a whole and put a spout on it. Love it.

This is a very handy pot that does various things that go naturally together- for example, one can brown stew components directly in it, then add the liquid and turn the temp down so it acts more like a slow cooker. We had an earlier model and used it for many, many years. When we moved to cooking stews more in the oven, we used the basic pot as the heating element in an improvised “sous vide” set-up, hooked into a controller with a probe that kept the water at a very precise temperature.Eventually, though, the years of use started to show. The nonstick coating was pretty much gone, and it was starting to develop pinholes, so we replaced it with this model. While this model has most of the virtues of the previous one, kitchen tech has caught up and makes it less useful in comparison. For example, everything you can do with it alone, you can also do with an Instant Pot- and the Instant Pot has many additional features, like pressure cooking, and a cooking vessel that can be removed for washing. Also, one can now buy an immersion heating/circulating wand for around $100, and they work better than our old improvised set-up. These are not a flaw in this pot; it’s just less clear that it’s the best choice. One nuisance in this model, though, is the power cord. It is held on to the pot with a magnetic coupler that I am sure is safer… but it falls apart if you even look at it sideways. This is not helpful!Still, it’s a good pot, and about a third of the price of the Instant Pots even in a good sale.
