- HEAVY-DUTY CONSTRUCTION: THICKER & HEAVIER – Compared with the stainless steel stock pots priced at $30 on the market, ours is thicker & heavier: 7.6MM in bottom thickness (a 6MM thick aluminum core sandwiched between two stainless steel layers); 5.1 lbs in weight (approx. 50 eggs) – Features elegant matte polished stainless steel exterior, cut a fine figure both in the kitchen and at the dining table – Great for simmering stews, soups, or cooking pasta, risotto and vegetables in large quantity.
- NICKEL FREE HARM FREE – Nickel Free stainless steel combines the best of stainless steel (rust-proof) & cast iron (healthy). Nickel-bearing 18/8 (Cr: Ni) or 18/10 stainless steel, being more corrosion-resistant, is commonly used for industrial purposes, BUT nickel is high up on the ATSDR list of priority toxins, and nickel LEACHES under regular cooking conditions – Ours is food grade NICKEL FREE JYH21CT stainless steel (21/0, Japanese standard): NOT ONLY sturdy, BUT ALSO non-toxic, non-allergic.
- NO COATING NO RISK – The widely used non-stick coating releases toxics (known to cause cancers) while cooking – The coating usually lasts only for 1-2 years, and thus it will eventually be eaten by the owner – Our stainless steel cookware set does not apply any coating, and is free of health hazard – Its heat surround technology & 3-Ply bottom provide consistent and even heat distribution, eliminate hotspots effectively, and hence achieve natural stick resistance without toxic PFOA and PTFE.
- SUNKEN LID & HIGH SIDES & WIDE BOTTOM MAXIMIZE FOOD FLAVOR – A sunken stainless steel lid helps retain moisture and capture heat while cooking, allowing foods to simmer slowly and develop amazing flavor – High sides help slow liquid evaporation and force the liquid to bubble up through the ingredients, maximizing flavor transfer – Heavy-gauge bottom helps even heating and easy stirring – Compatible with gas, induction, ceramic and halogen cooktops; Oven & Dishwasher safe.

I bought this pot for making soups and I think it will function well for that purpose. However, it is very heavy, which I consider a small drawback. Also, the pot must be cleaned very, very well before using. Follow the directions that come with the product: wash with white vinegar and then with soap and water, then towel dry. I had to repeat these steps three times to remove the black “dirt” coating the inside of the pot. You can’t see the dirt, but when you wipe the pot with a paper towel it becomes evident.

Getting pots that are healthy to cook with was the most important consideration for me when buying cookware. We usually get Xtrema (and like them a lot) but they are pricey and I break them easily because they are ceramic so we needed a second option. After a lot of research it seems like nickel-free stainless steel is the next best thing to lead-free ceramic so we went with these (we bought the individual large heavy pot as well as one of their sets). They’ve been working well. They don’t come perfectly clean easily, but I’m okay with that because again, the priority for us is healthy cooking not perfect-looking pots.

This’s Pot is impressive because, not only does it come with instructions on it’s usage, but also with how to maintain it’s beauty. The creators of this utensil want the owners of these pots to take care of it and they instruct on how to care for the pot. Homichef, tells the owners that the pot has a six year warranty, just this fact alone is impressive. They express gratitude for the purchase, who could ask for anything more. I love this pot and the aura surrounding it. I recommend buying any pot made by HOIMCHEF. THEY REALLY DO CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.
Non-toxic Mama (in progress) –
I have to start of by saying that the customer service from Homichef was honestly the best customer service I’ve probably ever received. You have a 30 day trial to use this pot and can return it for any reason if you aren’t satisfied. With that alone, I would recommend it. If you don’t like it, you can assuredly return it hassle free – just notice that the 1 star reviews were responded to by the seller, and they offered to refund it. I honestly can’t say enough about how pleased I was with how they dealt with the issue I had with my 1st pot (see next paragraph). That being said, I also had an issue with my pot getting discolored the 1st time I used it. I followed the cleaning directions and the cooking directions to the letter, and my pot still discolored. I contacted customer service and they were very helpful. I will caution you though – it would take 24 hours usually for the seller to respond. If I emailed them in the morning, I would get a response the next morning (I’m not sure why, maybe international time zone issues? Either way, they would respond the next day, so do realize that reaching out to them may take some time). They offered me steps to get rid of the markings – which did not work – and immediately sent me a new pot. I was beyond impressed. As far as where I’m at now, I do use this pot all the time. I’m not sure why my 1st pot got markings on it, but I’m using my new pot often. It’s very lightweight, and I’m so happy to have found a nickle-free stainless steel pot. Just read the “most helpful review” to get an explanation of why nickle-free might be safer. I am trying as hard as I can to reduce toxic exposures to our home, and I’m thrilled to have a pot to use that doesn’t have nickle.I love these Homichef pots, and for anyone interested in non-toxic pots, I also recommend looking into glass Corning cookware as well, if you are looking for non-toxic pots. I also love Lodge enameled cast iron – completely non-reactive. But any cast iron is extremely heavy, a drawback for me. And glass also has some limitations, too. Stainless steel, for me, is the most versatile. I plan to purchase the Homichef large stock pot next for soups. All in all, I do recommend – especially since you can easily return if you are not satisfied.

I received my 3 1/2 quart Homi Pot yesterday and it is lovely. It is a heavy pot and it is really attractive. I was interested in the height of the pot. It turns out to be 5 inches tall if you just measure the height of the pot and not include the cover with the handle. I bought it to steam vegetables in mostly. I cook soup in a really big pot so I have plenty of soup. I am tempted to purchase their big pot too. It is just so attractive. Also, this AM I got an email from this company giving me some extra hints about keeping my pot looking attractive. I thought that was a great personal touch. They suggested washing it the first time with lemon juice or white vinegar. I am a little confused about that. I had already used the pot and I am not sure why I would do that and if the vinegar should be diluted. The pot also included a measuring cup, a measuring spoon with tsp and Tablespoon and a cleaner to keep the pot looking shiny. It was suggested to treat the pot carefully, almost like a coated teflon pan, using wooden spoons and no scouring pans, things like that. Anyway, I am very happy with my new shiny stock pot.
